Underground Circuits

This is the original circuit and an essential rite of passage for all of the UTS Tribe. During this circuit all exercises are devised and instructed at a relatively low level of technical competence (levels 1-3 of our unique progression system) making it the ideal session for beginners, or seasoned fitness folk who want to raise the intensity of their workout and not have to worry about losing form.

This is the ultimate in versatile training methods. The Underground Circuit is the perfect way to learn and master new exercises and techniques, the perfect way to test yourself as your confidence and ability develops, and the ideal way to challenge yourself by working harder and harder in each and every session.

If you only ever trained one way, in only one of our unique classes, this session would be enough to last a life-time of improvement. New exercises each and every session, and the opportunity to push yourself to the edge of your limits.

VO2 Circuits

This session is all about reps – all about pushing to do more – all about developing energy systems that make you go longer. The aim of this session is to increase your effort as the session progresses, outdoing your previous effort each and every time. This is a simple but very effective way to exercise, especially if you’re goal is fat loss along with increased mobility and general strength.

If you’re a runner, a cyclist, a football player, a rugby player, a netball player… the list goes on… it’s simple: regardless of what your sport is, this circuit will directly help you to build and improve your overall aerobic capacity.

Vo2 develops the engine (the heart and lungs) which ultimately supports each and every exercise or sport you participate in. However, it doesn’t stop there – this session will tax your muscular system, and develop mental resilience too. Vo2 is a cornerstone of essential training, and thanks to our intelligent and unique level system, caters for ALL levels of ability; from complete novice to Olympian. Whatever your background, whatever your goal, this session was made for you.

F3 Circuits

Devised by a leading Sports Scientist (our very own Dr Col), structured by a leading Strength and Conditioning Coach our very own Neil Parsley, this is the most meaningfully fatiguing exercise circuit on the face of the planet. F3 – three types of fatigue, all targeted specifically, using each of your body’s multiple fuel systems, recruiting every muscle in your body; all in one session. F3 is unique – F3 is challenging – F3 delivers the kind of results other fitness programmes and circuits can only dream of.

This is a highly engaging session, in which you will train under three different and specific exercise conditions, three different types of training stress, but all in one unique 60-minute workout. Training this way brings dramatic changes in how your body utilises fuel – carbohydrates and fats – and simultaneously fatigues your muscles in a way that prompts a dramatic response; perfect for anyone who takes part in any type of team sport, endurance sport, or who wants to target meaningful fitness improvements. This is smart training at its BEST.

Battle Fit

Developed to challenge everyone that comes to UTS, Battle Fit utilises the fundamental exercises done with perfect form, that have underpinned UTS since its inception. Combining these exercises in unique ways whilst racing against the clock, Battle Fit truly is like no other class for challenging every energy system and all key muscle groups within your body. All Battle Fit sessions are named after sporting legends due to the specific demands of each session and also to reinforce the philosophy of ‘Training like an Athlete’ that is at the heart of everything we do at UTS

Afterburn 

Another UTS circuit statement which led to an industry-wide frenzy of imitation. Afterburn is all about inducing excess post-exercise oxygen consumption leading to an increased metabolic response: this means that more calories (including those derived from fat) are burned.

This session requires a relatively low technical ability, but high levels of determination, effort, and energy. We use a variety of different training methods, from resisted movements, to plyometric exercises, short sprints, and body-weight activities: our coaches push you to do more than you ever thought you were capable of.

STEELWORKS 

Steelworks is the UTS way of getting strong – we live by our motto: ‘It’s not bodybuilding; it’s what bodies were built for!’.

Steelworks sessions are where you will learn the correct technique for every type of resistance training exercise imaginable, as you build technique and skill, you will build strength; and before you know it, this will be another session in which you are pushed to work hard, work meaningfully, and achieve results.

Strength is the foundation of success in all sport, human movement, and health long into old age. The stronger we are, the easier every physical task before us becomes; from climbing stairs to climbing Mount Everest.

Density 

Our Density weight sessions are designed to deliver maximum results and encompass the most effective exercises to hit all key muscle groups in the upper and lower body. DENSITY is defined by the number of sets and reps done in a specific time which will target strength and cardio vascular development... so get ready to work hard!

Our Density sessions are the perfect solution for those seeking to become stronger and leaner.

Strength Hybrid

This session mostly incorporates the Steelworks area of the gym. You will learn the correct technique for every type of resistance training exercise imaginable, as you build technique and skill, you will build strength; and before you know it, this will be another session in which you are pushed to work hard, work meaningfully, and achieve results. These sessions will also incorporate conditioning focussed exercises in our Fitness Forge area.

womens Hybrid

This session is for women only and mostly incorporates the Steelworks area of the gym. You will learn the correct technique for every type of resistance training exercise imaginable, as you build technique and skill, you will build strength; and before you know it, this will be another session in which you are pushed to work hard, work meaningfully, and achieve results. These sessions will also incorporate conditioning focussed exercises in our Fitness Forge area.

battle zone

Developed to challenge everyone that comes to UTS, Battle Zone utilises compound barbell exercises along with the fundamental exercises, done with perfect form, that have underpinned UTS since its inception. Combining these exercises in unique ways whilst racing against the clock, Battle Zone truly is like no other class for challenging every energy system and all key muscle groups within your body. Early Bird

This session will consist of any of the classes outlined above, whether it be lifting or conditioning focussed.

MRT Circuits

UTS is the home of Metabolic Resistance Training (MRT) – a term which has now become commonplace all over the world.

Another UTS staple – this circuit is the perfect progression for those who are regularly working at level 3 during the Underground Circuit and want to develop their technical skill (levels 3-5 are coached in this session).

This is a technically and physically challenging session – ideal for those that want to push their fitness to new levels, and is a session favoured by those who love to Obstacle Race (we have many podium athletes from Spartan Race, Tough Guy, Tough Mudder, and Survival of the Fitness amongst our Tribe).
